    Welcome to Trailrunnerworld.com: Introductions

Welcome to Trailrunnerworld.com. This is a brand new site in its infancy. That's a good thing and a bad thing. Bad because if you're a lurker - you probably won't find much yet and it'll take longer for us to become an active community with a lot to offer the sport. Good, in that if you're joining us - you have a great deal of influence on the feel and direction of the sites future!

So, even if you're the first one here or you don't see a lot of activity - take the step to "Good" and contribute. Introduce yourself, tell us how you found the site and let us know a little about you. Who knows, your comments make bring more lurkers into the fold!

    Hello!

    Good morning admin and trailrunners

I was directed here by a friend and I like the look of this shiny, new site. I hope this becomes a vibrant community of trailrunners sharing wisdom and fun. I'm only an occasional trail runner but would like to do more since it's quite a bit more fun than running on roads and the atmosphere of most trail races I've attended has felt more casual, which suits me quite well.

I live in Vermont and have access to a multitude of relatively technical trails and some very easy trails (rail trails). I sometimes do some winter trail running, which involves snowshoes and gaiters and is a much more strenuous workout than any other form of running I've done. My next trail running event will be as a pacer at the Umstead 100-mile Endurance Run in Raleigh, NC starting on March 27th. The trails in that race are some of the least technical I've ever seen, since most of the 12.5 mile loop consists of smooth, crushed stone, bridle paths.

So, now that I have set myself on the path to being "Good", do I get a pony? Well? Do I??

    Hello!
I came to Trailrunnerworld as a designer AND a trail runner! I do hope to see this site develop into a great community of trail runners from all parts of the country and world.

I started trail running about a year and a half ago. A local running store has been putting on a trail race series and I decided to dive in and make my first trail race a half marathon. I had only done a little trail running in the area leading up to that race. It was a real eye opener as the trails were a lot more difficult than I anticipated, but i fell in love immediately! I got together with other trail runners in the area and we have a blast together. There are some good trails in and around Northeast Kansas and the Kansas City area.

Last year was my first year running the whole trail race series that is put on locally, and the year culminated with my first 50k race. It was an incredible experience. Right now I am training for a trail marathon in April.

Trail running has been a real blessing for me. It's allowed me to be able to run further and longer where if I had been putting all those miles on just the road I'd have been suffering from overuse injury.

    Hi, I'm steve.

    I like puppies.

I can probably safely characterize myself as the fattest ultrarunner you know. I weigh 300lbs. Started running roads about 13 years ago, inconsistently, and then 3 or 4 years ago discovered the utter ecstasy of trail running. it's almost as awesome as puppies. From there, it was only a matter of time before I encountered and dabbled in the unique world of ultra running, to which I am a certified addict. Don't hold that against me. I've completed a couple of 50s, and failed at a 100. I'm registered for a second attempt at 100 next month at Umstead. 100 miles is a lot scarier than puppies.

BTW you can read more about me on my blog, http://www.tursi.com

    Hi all.

I followed a link here from kickrunners and really like the concept behind this new site.

I am a bit odd in that I primarily train on trails, but race on roads. My staple weekday run is 80-90 minutes on technical/steep mountain bike trails before work. However, my goal races are usually road marathons. That said, I do run the occasional trail race, including a nearby 50K (Blues Cruise 50K) and several shorter trail races put on by Pretzel City Sports (my favorite being the Half Wit Half). I am definitely considering trying my hand at some longer trail ultras (though I have been saying that for years and still can't get away from the allure of road marathons).

    Hey Steve...
    I love puppies too.
    We should trade receipes.
    (Sorry, couldn't resist)

    RD'ing a 10K trail race tomorrow.
Getting ready to leave work to mark trail this afternoon.
Hopefully the expected snow won't cause any issues for those driving to the trailhead in the morning.
2 to 6 inches of fresh snow will be awesome for the runners.

    Hello,
I've been trail running since 1983 when, as a high school kid, I moved to the outdoor mecca of Bozeman, Montana from the flat concrete jungle of south Florida. Now I live in Seattle which, judging by the runners that show up to some of the weekly club runs, has to be one of the trail and ultra capitals of the US. (Showing up to a 'casual group run' where half the attendees have won an ultra is a little intimidating but great for your training. )
I've run a few 50ks, and 50 milers and attempted one 100 which I had to quit because of injury. Haven't signed up for anything yet this season and I'm enjoying just running without an upcoming race looming over my schedule.
