Thread: New Site Development

    New Site Development

We are still in Beta software - but we at least have a working site. I'm still trying to learn the front page software, but it appears to be very powerful.

Things still need to be completed:

Style/Template: Becky is helping me on this and as you poke around the site and find colors that need adjusted, please make note and let us know by posting here.

Google Map: The front page does allow me to add the map from the original trailrunnerworld.com site. Audrey, the links point back to html pages on the old server. Would you be willing to add those reviews to a blog here at trailrunnerworld.com and then repoint to them there? Add a link to the original reviewer in the blog. By adding to the blog here, we can 'promote' the blog entry to a front page article.

New members: we have to manually approve new members to keep spammers out. And though the site is still in beta - if we get new members, feel free to poke around and start contributing. But remember, we are still 'beta' and you might run into glitches. If you do, please post them here.

Becky and Audrey - if there are some people you'd like to invite to the board, please feel free to do so. I don't want a public post at kickrunners though. Once the site is done, a banner ad will be placed there and then those who are interested in the sport will come - without a complete shift from kickrunners to here. If the traffic moves here and leaves kickrunners, then the revenue stream created there by advertising (which is paying for this site and that site) will diminish. Ads will be placed here in time, but until then - I'd prefer this site grow on it's own and not just shift members from one site to the other.

    Thanks

The home page on this site is all jumbled for me. The YouTube video overlaps some of the words, the picture of the female runner overlaps the Google map...I haven't tried looking at the site on another computer yet. I just wanted to see if it was just me that was having these weird issues or if it's like that for you too.

Oh, and I had trouble replying to the thread. It kept asking me to log in after I had logged in a couple of times. Maybe I just haven't had enough practice on forums yet...

I wonder if it's the screen setting? I see everything normal - what is your monitor set to?

As far as the log in issue - that could be because we're in beta version? It could be a bug that hasn't been fixed yet. Try posting a new thread? also, try checking "Stay logged in"

Hey - If you're using IE, check your view settings. It may defaulted to 125% and needs to be set to 100%
